Welcome to the Macclesfield and East Cheshire Branch of the BCSS

Welcome to the Macclesfield and East Cheshire Branch of the BCSS.
Founded 75 years ago, we are the local branch of the British Cactus & Succulent Society based around the areas of Macclesfield, Wilmslow, and East Cheshire. We are a friendly and enthusiastic bunch looking to promote the appreciation, study, conservation, propagation and cultivation of cacti and other succulent plants. Our members come from a variety of age groups and backgrounds with collections that range from windowsills to sizeable greenhouses, and who possess an extensive and diverse knowledge of this fascinating hobby, which we are always willing to share.
Our annual programme covers a wide range of cactus and succulent related topics (see events page). Most meetings consist of a talk by a reputable speaker illustrated with images and/or plants and split into two 45-minute parts. There is also a competitive table show, a chance to chat over tea/coffee and biscuits, and there are usually plants for sale. We organise special events such as greenhouse visits and exhibit at local shows. Those visiting the annual RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park will hopefully have seen our regular exhibits and gold medal successes.
We meet every second Monday of the month in the Victory Hall, Mobberley, Cheshire, WA16 7JQ, for a prompt 7.30pm start, and you don’t have to be a Society member to join us. Visitors will be warmly welcomed, and membership is open to all.
For more information, please contact us or visit our branch webpage.
